Dear TWH “Big Iron” Enthusiast,
I have been very pleased with the reports coming in from the proud owners of the first Bucyrus 8750 Dragline models. Although the original project plan licensed 100 pieces, we limited the first run to only 48 pieces based on the factory production schedule and the number of presales last fall during the beginning of our global recession. However, the waiting list has grown substantially despite all the economic uncertainties. Now that the model is available and being viewed by collectors around the world, it has set a new standard for detail and value. Although the project’s economics were established on a 100 piece run, I am willing to close out the project with only 25 more units in order to enhance the collectibility of the first 48 piece run and this additional 25 piece run. The 8750’s success has opened the door for other Big Iron projects! We have the rare privilege of receiving licensing approval from Bucyrus International, Ensham (mine), plus ESCO and CQMS (dragline bucket manufacturers) for Production Run #2. The decision was made to honor the collectors by staying with current technology versus future technology–hence an existing mine’s livery with the choice of Ensham’s original bucket (ESCO) or a current bucket (CQMS). The additional option of RC operation for the housing pivot and dragline bucket operation provides an exciting collectible experience. I am borrowing Brian Zinsli’s Dragline for the show since I don’t even have one myself from the first run. The first 10 orders placed will have units shipped by November 15 with the remaining units shipping< by December 31.
